“Learning to be a children’s yoga teacher at SOMAYOKES felt like a safe space to absorb knowledge (from yogic insights and Yoke Wen’s trauma-informed experience), apply what we learnt with a spirit of non-judgemental experimentation and share perspectives to deepen our intent/reflections.
Yoke Wen offers very insightful, tactful and affirmative feedback, allowing us to learn from our own and each others’ teaching experience in a way that is very concrete yet still open-ended. Beyond her studio, teaching yoga for primary school kids offered authentic learning opportunities. I graduate from this RCYTT with hopefulness, greater sensitivity towards diverse needs and a work-in-progress toolkit to support the youths I work with.
